PEN RESCUE - BROWN VEINED CELLULOID - PATRICIAN STYLE

PEN RESCUE is a productive project I developed in collaboration with Stefano Costantini’s SEC Calligraphy.

The idea at the basis of the project is to rescue beautiful vintage celluloids or damaged pens, rejuvenate them in order  to elaborate brand new creative fountain pens with a vintage soul.

The project started with Blue Lizard and Blue Pineneedle celluloid pens, which where created using vintage pens from the 1940s which were re-designed and enriched with a fanciful clip. The design of the clip itself is drawn from a vintage model.

New Pen Rescue designs will be added In the course of time, according to what we find to rescue and restore.

This Pen Rescue model was created using two vintage celluloid tubes coming from an unbranded pen. The celluoid is very appealing, being a deep semi transparent brown with dark veins.

The style of the celluloid gave us the idea to create a Pen Rescue recalling the style of vintage Waterman Patrician pens. We therefore developed a specific cap band for this model and added ebonite details on the cap top, cap lip and barrel end, drawing inspiration from the models Waterman introduced in 1929.

The clip was developed from a vintage Italian clip coming from an Eterno pen from the early 1930s.

The entire productive process has been carried out by hand, manufacturing each piece and component with the same patience and skilled craftsmanship of the past.

The result is a modern pen with a vintage soul, which is what we are aiming at.

The pen is fitted with a superb Omas Extra Lucens nib, which is a very generous M, tending to B.
